Have you ever searched the Internet looking for ideas for a perfect family vacation, but have had no luck in finding something that is within your budget? I have. As a working mother of three whose husband stays home with the kids, I look forward to our annual vacations, but sometimes when I begin to search for ideas, I find frustration instead. I see web sites designed for family travel that brag about tours to Peru and Italy starting out at three thousand dollars a person, not including airfare! For our family, living on a teacher’s salary means that we have the time for a vacation, but not necessarily the funds for something that extravagant.
That is why my husband and I decided to begin Thrifty Family Travel. We want to share our experiences with you about the trips we have taken-none of which have cost more than three thousand dollars total, for all five of us!-and do the research for you. Rather than having a web site committed to family travel with a section about budget traveling, we wanted to create an entire web site for families who like to travel but are on a budget.
We’re starting small-sharing our tips and experiences. As we expand the web site, we will feature traveling information, such as hotels, national parks, theme parks, and unusual sights, for each of the fifty states. We will do the research and share it with you-the best places to go, traveling with different age groups, the books you should buy, even great travel products. We hope you will find everything you need to take your family on a dream vacation this year-one that you can enjoy without breaking the bank!
